I had a wonderful time creating this whimsy mail. 💜 The recipients enjoy paper crafting so I thought it would be awesome to send them a handmade item they can use and customize. </p><p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEha_D00eLgkMoh9JFTkHAYl3UeKIGWEame4mASlLrhbh_Ldid9VbLHR6QTzCYjxrfMv0NOmMdWGPXmYgKSiuBh8oz2WWu0dgLX8BJQMEzXuOMWcXpvhiZryh-YeEdmmMtc4pdcVu0YFBzj8v_daT4J_MRtY4dd9ScbDDRwQzy1l22Q3EupGEme9ukRt/s2048/2CCA2C3E-06CC-4DD1-B4A8-3A1B476C3F7A.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEha_D00eLgkMoh9JFTkHAYl3UeKIGWEame4mASlLrhbh_Ldid9VbLHR6QTzCYjxrfMv0NOmMdWGPXmYgKSiuBh8oz2WWu0dgLX8BJQMEzXuOMWcXpvhiZryh-YeEdmmMtc4pdcVu0YFBzj8v_daT4J_MRtY4dd9ScbDDRwQzy1l22Q3EupGEme9ukRt/w640-h640/2CCA2C3E-06CC-4DD1-B4A8-3A1B476C3F7A.JPEG" width="640" /></a></p><p>I created a soft cover mini book cover with canvas fabric. Each cover I painted playful images with acrylic paint and added touches of embroidery. I left the edges raw for a carefree look... and I like the look of all the threads. It compliments the doodle style well. </p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYQN9W_B2rBbRJ3wBSbUqAdCLIrcXjMqCNKwsn8zlwLt0A7o0LkU5i8YtRyHXrCNAHGSwuz8KCGrfniRqX-cxJHXCPe0eAWH2fnLKxnfHcnuNQgh5ikK5qzGWOsvaVfKPaPoSWyarSnrbJ6ekShJlCjMd6jdK7_T3g_m-Ain4XetHnWGqI_rvlA8l-/s2048/03E21F02-8959-419F-A2BD-5BD26B2A0AB3.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYQN9W_B2rBbRJ3wBSbUqAdCLIrcXjMqCNKwsn8zlwLt0A7o0LkU5i8YtRyHXrCNAHGSwuz8KCGrfniRqX-cxJHXCPe0eAWH2fnLKxnfHcnuNQgh5ikK5qzGWOsvaVfKPaPoSWyarSnrbJ6ekShJlCjMd6jdK7_T3g_m-Ain4XetHnWGqI_rvlA8l-/w640-h640/03E21F02-8959-419F-A2BD-5BD26B2A0AB3.JPEG" width="640" /></a></div><div>Since this is a special occasions happy mail I went a little overboard. A typical pen pal exchange for me consists of just the interactive book insert with my letter written on the pages. If I feel exceptionally chatty I'll add a notebook page folded and tucked in one of the pockets. Then I might add something small that my pen pal may like. For example, a flat handmade embellishment or share some pieces from my craft stash. </div><br />**Shipping Tip**<br />Try to keep your booklets small so they will fit in a standard envelope. I like to open my booklets to the middle and lay it flat (open) in the envelope. It will ship for less since the envelope is less thick. 😊<br /><div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCF1gTj1axyw1iLCqZ_C29bBKsA5Yzh1Cpsd6YHvRKC_KWK1do2FiJkqU6QZCdbLoWyxKnnfjbyol3LTaE__G62YN38-wvHM6rOwDFB_L4kxeNg9ChLu-mU-DpSJnCYS_hfrZZ-QL6h-wRJ0XOH44LMhgro1xDF7GjgZ4pwRj6sEyuAPijPruf2KUO/s2048/8BD1D79A-A567-4A7C-A44C-E057967C9978.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCF1gTj1axyw1iLCqZ_C29bBKsA5Yzh1Cpsd6YHvRKC_KWK1do2FiJkqU6QZCdbLoWyxKnnfjbyol3LTaE__G62YN38-wvHM6rOwDFB_L4kxeNg9ChLu-mU-DpSJnCYS_hfrZZ-QL6h-wRJ0XOH44LMhgro1xDF7GjgZ4pwRj6sEyuAPijPruf2KUO/w640-h640/8BD1D79A-A567-4A7C-A44C-E057967C9978.JPEG" width="640" /></a></div><div>I LOVE mini album/pen pal book inserts. I use them all time, especially as little doodle journals. The journal style book insert only consists of high quality printer paper and a pretty piece of pattern paper for the cover. Pumpkin Spice Lattes and Sweater Weather! Well, my fall drink of choice this year is Iced Toasted Vanilla Oatmilk Shaken Espresso, yum. PSLs are Alfredo's thing. Anyway, that's enough chitchat about coffee, let's dive into the crafty portion of this post. <br /><br />This year I'm documenting my fall activities in a file folder mini album and few pages in my 12x12 scrapbook. I have <a href="https://youtu.be/2sg8bXjaSVk" target="_blank">tutorial on my YouTube channel</a> on how I created the mini album with an alternate way to decorate the pages. <br /><br />I'm all about PASTEL HALLOWEEN this year. I mixed all the <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/littlehottamale?section_id=36896344" target="_blank">Little Hot Tamale pastel Halloween</a> collections and pulled some neutral supplies to sprinkle in here and there, like bakers twine, narrow RicRac, silver thread, gemstones, ribbon, vellum, holographic paper, and 2 punches (scalloped circle & border punch). <br /><br />For each page I left about 1/8 of an inch border to show off a bold black edge of the file folder. It really makes the pastels pop. Before I adhered any pages to the album I sewed around the edge of each page (basic sewing machine, no backstitch). Then I hot glued each page in sections (top, middle section, bottom) on just the sides. ****NOTE**** If you decide to make something similar, pause the gluing. There are ways to add additional tuck spots by being a little strategic with your glue. To keep everything cohesive I stuck with vellum, holographic paper, gemstones, and silver thread to help build up my embellishment clusters. It also makes it so much easier when you have less options (says the person that mixed all the LHT pastel collections, lol). Anyway... This pumpkin embelli consists of a scalloped circle, spider web die cut (Michaels, last year), messy thread, foam tape, then the pumpkin. To add a little sparkle and fill the empty space on the scalloped circle I added a gem and a bat. It also helps to balance out the visually heavy pumpkin with something delicate. <br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2UJ0qGNyPwbDJMHwfGiWhcdKJMN74rZCZml3lA65dvZwArbv2IJJ8wzLJQVqrJaBDW9a5aNyYne086WMkmvn2HgXiPcwsLzBAHcEv8qVFNsh75xhKSbw0pGrNHIhYq2_2CBlW-lvlvLHAz5IGof06v52sFYAteL4KDlNolqZnl8ASi5zm1tOW_TtY/s2048/FA3C54BF-96FB-4B19-B962-F73100CB1A98.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2UJ0qGNyPwbDJMHwfGiWhcdKJMN74rZCZml3lA65dvZwArbv2IJJ8wzLJQVqrJaBDW9a5aNyYne086WMkmvn2HgXiPcwsLzBAHcEv8qVFNsh75xhKSbw0pGrNHIhYq2_2CBlW-lvlvLHAz5IGof06v52sFYAteL4KDlNolqZnl8ASi5zm1tOW_TtY/w640-h640/FA3C54BF-96FB-4B19-B962-F73100CB1A98.JPEG" width="640" /></a></div><br />Page 1 is a pocket page. So... I took black paper that was about 2" wide, created a score mark down the center, and ripped the sides off. I made sure the texture core was showed when I adhered it. It's easier to glue it to the card first, then trim off the excess hinge before gluing it to the album. It's less guess work, and more accurate. You can get different looks depending on the core of the paper. Like for example, the ripped paper on the front of the mini album has a white core. Neat, right? <br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYrEbXRB7QSdUHrYl32BspYkVlJgcQkrmx1e9VNKCg3uij71GUy_NMM1X8bzWWDz8EazMJG4GMADEBBV71oPto2CNrv7A65a1slHMLUlVEvkFFU4Roe6XNWHkjuNwaxzl6w30Tm1ouv9aKcrsftbTgj3qNQgmrPa6qjWj7WIMOlvb1dmQReEBocbrb/s2048/0F1BFC1D-978F-44A0-A260-400C95D1BC91.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYrEbXRB7QSdUHrYl32BspYkVlJgcQkrmx1e9VNKCg3uij71GUy_NMM1X8bzWWDz8EazMJG4GMADEBBV71oPto2CNrv7A65a1slHMLUlVEvkFFU4Roe6XNWHkjuNwaxzl6w30Tm1ouv9aKcrsftbTgj3qNQgmrPa6qjWj7WIMOlvb1dmQReEBocbrb/w640-h640/0F1BFC1D-978F-44A0-A260-400C95D1BC91.JPEG" width="640" /></a></div><br />To prevent the cards from flipping open easily, I added a tiny Velcro dot on the bottom corner of the top card. Tiny Velcro dots can be found in most sewing departments. I really like the look of the ripped hinge for this project. It has creepy carefree vibe about it. <br /><br />Now it's time to talk about HIDDEN TAGS. Yay! It looks difficult, but it's not... just a little planning is needed. For mine I thought it would be really cool to have more textures and tabs on the side of my book. This is a modification to my <a href="https://youtu.be/2sg8bXjaSVk" target="_blank">original tutorial</a> (top loading tags). For the side loading tag option I added glue horizontally across the center of the lavender skull paper. Then I hot glued the top left edge half section, and finally the top edge. It's best to work in sections when working with hot glue. It dries quickly and you don't want to accidently grab a section with glue on it. Repeat process to the bottom section. <br /><br />Ok... this is where I accidently made a construction error with my mini album. Side loading pockets interfere with the very last spread, it prevents it from opening properly since the album reverses. It's not a big deal for me. I should of tested it before I glued it down. Apparently I was focused on the "cool factor." LOL I wanted to let you know just in case decide to go this route. <br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdAcDtXDrtutMm3QMy9faIvaCewi0wU8g6laSgXqe4JNZg2L3vXCl6iPx20pDvf8su_NkkR5X0faxPSfA-YgLlfCbTqfVdFhPCBMDlXtVJ1fN4xftVGbosZkGNV5AHTwlhqRObAd9X1q7fC6VsWdaBrD-vX24Pzgx83oNY2NPp3mJ_UwAesrHNoRsS/s2048/1AEAE9ED-6E7D-4F3E-89A7-9B5E9A4382BF.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdAcDtXDrtutMm3QMy9faIvaCewi0wU8g6laSgXqe4JNZg2L3vXCl6iPx20pDvf8su_NkkR5X0faxPSfA-YgLlfCbTqfVdFhPCBMDlXtVJ1fN4xftVGbosZkGNV5AHTwlhqRObAd9X1q7fC6VsWdaBrD-vX24Pzgx83oNY2NPp3mJ_UwAesrHNoRsS/w640-h640/1AEAE9ED-6E7D-4F3E-89A7-9B5E9A4382BF.JPEG" width="640" /></a></div><br />Another tag flip for the WIN! I chose my main paper background paper first then I decorated the small area that showed on each layer. It was great place to start on a big project. The October element fit perfectly on the last file folder rounded tab. Then I added a layered embellishment to the other half of the tab. It consists of a journal label, thread, foam tape, holo paper, star ribbon, and glitter mesh ribbon (Hobby Lobby floral department). For the SPOOKY, I cut the block letter words into smaller pieces and backed them with holo paper. So cute and the perfect size for a narrow space. <br /><br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGUwXLxG23HmrrE2gnXplFjdfMY4CCfv17aaIrO7xNIT_jbwaxq71W-1YkSVN6xQX_a8ItsGA8W0rvSnIovmKpMfLElzYDYtp_shEaKwuNKlx2O9Mg9jsiHiAbUYS6ZD-wTFSJuAV5DZP_LBI4ortJNUgV34B3bpMlzmlDHUP0Eb9BLoYrcjAkPNYa/s2048/2FC91804-16FD-4ECA-ACD7-957913C17755.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGUwXLxG23HmrrE2gnXplFjdfMY4CCfv17aaIrO7xNIT_jbwaxq71W-1YkSVN6xQX_a8ItsGA8W0rvSnIovmKpMfLElzYDYtp_shEaKwuNKlx2O9Mg9jsiHiAbUYS6ZD-wTFSJuAV5DZP_LBI4ortJNUgV34B3bpMlzmlDHUP0Eb9BLoYrcjAkPNYa/w640-h640/2FC91804-16FD-4ECA-ACD7-957913C17755.JPEG" width="640" /></a></div><br />Page 3 and 4. I was really excited to get started and didn't plan well. That's why I added a festive bow paperclip to the top to help compensate the emptiness. I was inspired by <a href="https://www.instagram.com/puchy_tats/" target="_blank">puchy_tats</a> on instagram. I loved how she added tulle and eyelash trim to hers. <br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwFxClMOVxWgYwLih_g1Gv-UFvCV7_l4Yuup_2Yzoy3Zkh1h4oRbhBMHsZWnJEx7NpNCGkwQ6BjLEi89miqngfZS_Txbibz2ZySofZJFYr0lRTGOp60h2dNo2hFDeNSwHDhi0lSRjJLiIukM_KNw1LrKrAccmuf9wG_KvCgtfBt1fnJe0tfkIYQGRp/s2048/24874123-5F7A-4A5D-ABB9-11ADF56BAAD0.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwFxClMOVxWgYwLih_g1Gv-UFvCV7_l4Yuup_2Yzoy3Zkh1h4oRbhBMHsZWnJEx7NpNCGkwQ6BjLEi89miqngfZS_Txbibz2ZySofZJFYr0lRTGOp60h2dNo2hFDeNSwHDhi0lSRjJLiIukM_KNw1LrKrAccmuf9wG_KvCgtfBt1fnJe0tfkIYQGRp/w640-h640/24874123-5F7A-4A5D-ABB9-11ADF56BAAD0.JPEG" width="640" /></a></div><br />I used my template from <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/1164701406/mini-album-template-envelope-templates?click_key=5285fcaf4e9a31af5a1840e353c16f0913cb4ede%3A1164701406&click_sum=7ac7abd5&ref=shop_home_feat_1&sts=1" target="_blank">Meg's Templates</a> to create mine.<br />1.) The original design had a tiny tuck spot, but I really wanted to add some kind of large envelope. I ended up creating something similar to my <a href="https://youtu.be/VDAZRIEGq6c" target="_blank">Shaker Envelope Tutorial.</a> I used 2 star dies on the front of the coin envelope to emulate a whimsy feel. Then I added a piece of tulle and white cardstock that was larger than the front of the envelope. To create the shaker I only sewed half of each star. Then I added a small amount of sequin mix and sewed around 1.5 more times. For me, stars are difficult to sew around so I went with a messy look. Then I trimmed the tulle and cardstock a little smaller than the front to the envelope. I decided to add cardstock for 2 reasons. 1.) durability, it's on the back cover of the mini album and I intend to use this section the most. 2.) I was afraid transparency film would scratch over time. I didn't want this project to be my test subject, lol. <br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-rgNcK9B_RskJT7jez5DXrMWlEY1IITy-l86kpLpKzh3n9JBfjtw8bijnl_n_w1fnrlVIhVN01VkWfVRlYMKXoA6CM2atE6VQl5mqhCDChHEFajNrerCe8RLsXtP7wXjm7leL16tuRftZ2r4tfDClgAXPqrHkuPPzaQ-Hzcv9S55DDOGicR4LPlxv/s2048/FF56844F-2F20-4C59-9133-3EF67E26267F.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-rgNcK9B_RskJT7jez5DXrMWlEY1IITy-l86kpLpKzh3n9JBfjtw8bijnl_n_w1fnrlVIhVN01VkWfVRlYMKXoA6CM2atE6VQl5mqhCDChHEFajNrerCe8RLsXtP7wXjm7leL16tuRftZ2r4tfDClgAXPqrHkuPPzaQ-Hzcv9S55DDOGicR4LPlxv/w640-h640/FF56844F-2F20-4C59-9133-3EF67E26267F.JPEG" width="640" /></a></div><br />Then I added a little embellishing down the side because the 2 stars looked so unbalanced to me. The height is a little more than 3/4 of an inch. Fold the half inch glue tabs under and trim a little triangle slice off each side of the tab (edge to fold) so that it the tabs won't show under the belly band when it's glued down. I did this belly band method so that it will expand a tiny bit for a filled envelope. I decorated the belly band with with narrow RicRac and a raven ready to party popped up on foam. <br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQmcxi7uD46kAGSjjOm_3MGJqJikIUuPh07j13q18-Ugm_SW7wc2bhYANdwjKK30EFXaXQHOnetSXzkyt9vA6FgOkZWPrKA7bNkWQ9lrH8r0_g08bY-6pUZOIAGOY_CUh7U6TEWGjORK0WS6Tli9KMSV_IehcBNq0fHvPniQHFaeWXxxS0D6mO0kTZ/s2048/A7030A8C-6216-4013-B794-B23A3F78BE6C.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQmcxi7uD46kAGSjjOm_3MGJqJikIUuPh07j13q18-Ugm_SW7wc2bhYANdwjKK30EFXaXQHOnetSXzkyt9vA6FgOkZWPrKA7bNkWQ9lrH8r0_g08bY-6pUZOIAGOY_CUh7U6TEWGjORK0WS6Tli9KMSV_IehcBNq0fHvPniQHFaeWXxxS0D6mO0kTZ/w640-h640/A7030A8C-6216-4013-B794-B23A3F78BE6C.JPEG" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixu5WxMlDEEGoB5hWOTJtB89kNdvjws5P_Z9FCF7Bp7ghxRimu1hnDhlh5S7aNblaSERfmU_qPjkP3VtBQ7zcXajHYhNYkIr48vJ7nq8S5nDyhLKsDnLLJrYMdkZEHtp6hFCrtp8A99d5JmnPc-CtWbIhi-ArGZf-hLkv61axqeKPxK1IKypc9AyL8/s2048/FCE33B6D-D4B6-4386-80D1-4D1B89D53C02.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixu5WxMlDEEGoB5hWOTJtB89kNdvjws5P_Z9FCF7Bp7ghxRimu1hnDhlh5S7aNblaSERfmU_qPjkP3VtBQ7zcXajHYhNYkIr48vJ7nq8S5nDyhLKsDnLLJrYMdkZEHtp6hFCrtp8A99d5JmnPc-CtWbIhi-ArGZf-hLkv61axqeKPxK1IKypc9AyL8/w640-h640/FCE33B6D-D4B6-4386-80D1-4D1B89D53C02.JPEG" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div>The back cover page flips down to reveal more opportunities. I wrapped lightweight elastic around one of the gussets (section on the spine between the pages) and did an overhand knot. Leave elastic tails. It should be a little snug, but not too much. You don't want to cause the file folder to bend, but you don't want the elastic to slide around. For the ribbon I tried to pick options that were narrow. Then I double knotted the middle section of the ribbon with the elastic tails. To finish it off I added a few beads to the elastics. The star beads are from Hobby Lobby and the heart letters are from Michaels. <br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirxyzfWc2iFg45qCbV--QbSBcFo8FY4Fnsxb2Jmc9T5sTzVJibivHqQJBI4oifBcx-sAuYjBG038yjJb-32tmEdWfBjuStFXT-6eUiWenpZ1UmunmSDh7wikNlHkfE4bfK0iVXtNJ7j6PSsm_78JHZTz_pjpdA3Z8HpBFDhI94tx625xJWWGNDcPZO/s2048/32790C35-2C13-46CD-9AC6-1D164E6E137C.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirxyzfWc2iFg45qCbV--QbSBcFo8FY4Fnsxb2Jmc9T5sTzVJibivHqQJBI4oifBcx-sAuYjBG038yjJb-32tmEdWfBjuStFXT-6eUiWenpZ1UmunmSDh7wikNlHkfE4bfK0iVXtNJ7j6PSsm_78JHZTz_pjpdA3Z8HpBFDhI94tx625xJWWGNDcPZO/w640-h480/32790C35-2C13-46CD-9AC6-1D164E6E137C.JPEG" width="640" /></a></div><br /> This is the spread that I added the elastic tassel to. <br /><br />For the actual documenting part I'm NOT going to be strict about chronological order. "it's ruined." I know it's not, but the thought will cross my mind. lol<br /><br />The extra large envelope on the back will home special stories or something I thought was funny. Nothing fancy, just basic paper. You can also do a daily list here if you want to include something chronological in your album. <br /><br />Thank you so much for taking the time to read about of my October Daily. <br />
<br />
Hello Lovelies!<br />
I absolutely love scrapbooking so I thought it would be fun to share things I LOVE to include in my albums.<br />
<br />
First of all I am a 12x12 album kind of girl because it gives me the most freedom to play. I mix and match the sizes of the inserts, along with playing with traditional layouts, pocket style, and loose pages. When I refer to loose pages I mean a page that has no protective sleeve. I really like this approach and it works for me. It also helps that it looks really cool with all the varying size inserts and pages. ;)<br />
<br />
<h3>
Ok, Let's Get Started!</h3>
<div>
<br /></div>
What do I add to my albums? This can be so daunting, especially if you don't take very many photos. That is totally ok! I include screenshots of comments, series & movie posters, games, funny instagram posts, just about anything that strikes my fancy. Hehe, sometimes I include little rants, but those are hidden. :p Of course I document life events too.<br />
<br />
To get the most out of my album's real estate I use pocket style inserts quite a bit. It's easier to cover multiple topics or focus on just one. I tend to use photos that are wallet size or half the size of a wallet, but rarely smaller. So that means 4 photos at most printed on 6x4 photo paper. I usually get my prints done at Walgreens because it is convenient for me. <br />
<h3>

<h2>
Photo Heavy on a Particular Topic </h2>

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
If you don't know this already, I am a HUGE series lover and so is Alfredo. This spread was photo heavy of our go to shows at the time. I always try to include journaling in some way, a lesson learned for me. My personal favorite is adding hidden journaling to an envelope, a flip, or even on the back of a layout. Sometimes I even make little journals that span a few days to include. That may actually be one of my favorite things to include because they are usually filled with doodles and fresh recalls of the day. </div>

First of all, there is no right or wrong way to do scrapbooking, it's completely up to you. Personally I do it because I enjoy the creative process, love looking through them, and I also have a terrible memory.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I have so many photos and layouts that have no substance, journaling helps give it life and trigger my memory. For example, I have a terrible photo collage of me eating at the park on one of my spreads. I actually included a hidden story about the day and it wasn't something superficial like, "today was a great day, we had so much fun." Really... no way, lol. I do have plenty of journaling like that though, but I'm trying to do better . Anyway, it was a funny story about watching the ecstatic kids looking for painted rocks and a poor dad that just wanted to relax. </div>

Try making the entire pocket an envelope. This one I used a coin envelope with minimal embellishing and a photo. This is a great opportunity to use your festive paperclips too. I also have an awesome video tutorial and template to make shaker coin envelopes here: <a href="https://youtu.be/VDAZRIEGq6c" target="_blank">https://youtu.be/VDAZRIEGq6c </a></div>

Seriously, you need to get Glassine bags if you don't have them in your stash. They are great for layering and hiding extra tidbits. Paper bags are awesome too! </div>

Mini envelopes that are the pocket's focal point are a perfect way to add a pop color. A 6x4 pocket with several mini envelopes is a fun way to add interest and provide extra space. I did this for Valentine riddles. You can also use mini envelopes in a more interactive way by creating a poll. For Halloween I added a section where you can place your vote for which Stephen King It movie you preferred. </div>

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I add flips ALL THE TIME. It's great for layouts that focus on the creative process. For this one I created a flip under the top left photo and added a tab that said "story." Sometimes I neglect to include the label and I completely forget it's a lift. Oops... </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIKVhlMXKbozJKenCpdIIwy2psHVacls1W49NKfTL99cR0Bn7hNp72bhblXmc77j4WeGy-aplRgrEybw0J4_xkM0LD4W2F7oF1OUo3RAgCvYeoX9_QtHdCx_7RIkQ9uns7RQZx_h6RowM/s1600/DSC_0909.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1067" data-original-width="1600" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIKVhlMXKbozJKenCpdIIwy2psHVacls1W49NKfTL99cR0Bn7hNp72bhblXmc77j4WeGy-aplRgrEybw0J4_xkM0LD4W2F7oF1OUo3RAgCvYeoX9_QtHdCx_7RIkQ9uns7RQZx_h6RowM/s640/DSC_0909.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div>
<br />
The photo on the bottom is a lift too, but it looks a like an embellishment cluster. For this layout I used my <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/637186411/taco-tuesday-elements-bundle-2-little?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=little+hot+tamale&ref=sr_gallery-1-11&organic_search_click=1" target="_blank">Taco Tuesday collection</a>, watercolor, and hand stitching. To make it more festive I glued tiny bits of crepe paper pieces throughout the layout. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
Tags for Days</h3>
<div>
Tags are also a great option for inconspicuous journaling. It can be the eye candy of a pocket or tucked behind something. Don't forget to get creative with the tag tie. Use ribbon, crepe paper, bakers twine, tulle, etc. I'm so surprised I don't have a photo example because this is definitely a go to for me, especially for mini albums and pocket letters. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h2>
Too Many Photos</h2>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjmOCkpPRz5zm4JfgHe7QD6xNdxistv-Wvq6yfR9oR51l2CwPoMU-T08G7ShbtthyphenhyphenwkRY16MI57lXvPBCBw5i1uMMrgoQc2ZV048yVSyDbkOZGpkWILqgtcx9vzoPbfxAijXCgzBb8MuQ/s1600/DSC_1046.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1067" data-original-width="1600" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjmOCkpPRz5zm4JfgHe7QD6xNdxistv-Wvq6yfR9oR51l2CwPoMU-T08G7ShbtthyphenhyphenwkRY16MI57lXvPBCBw5i1uMMrgoQc2ZV048yVSyDbkOZGpkWILqgtcx9vzoPbfxAijXCgzBb8MuQ/s640/DSC_1046.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
When I have extra photos that don't fit on my spread I like to place them behind another image. For this one I just added tab behind the title card and noted that there were more photos. This method is ideal for 1-3 photos. I also add extra photos to flips, envelopes, and bags. If there are quite a few photos and I really don't want to create a layout I make a loose bag flip. I add tabs that align with the rings of my scrapbook to a paper bag. Then I just pop it into my scrapbook and seal it with cute washi tape.<br />

<span style="color: orange; font-size: large;">Hello Lovelies!</span> <br />
I finally decided I would create some projects that have been on my creative wish list. Memorydex cards were at the top of my list. To my dismay all my favorite crafty stores stopped carrying Heidi Swapp's Memorydex supplies. I was incredibly disappointed and didn't want to wait for an online order... I can be incredibly impatient. :p So I was determined to make my own and I'm glad I did because it is completely customizable, yay! <br />
<br />
<br />
This particular tray measures 4.5"x7" and is all decked out for Halloween. :) I'm all about Halloween and fall right now. Lol, you probably know that if you follow my instagram (@littlehottamale). If Halloween isn't your thing, use different colors. <br />

If you look at your score lines you will notice each corner consists of 4 mini squares. You will need to cut the three outer mini squares off of each corner. You will be left with one mini square on each corner. Cut a small angle/sliver off the vertical sides, please reference the photo below. <br />

<span style="color: orange; font-size: x-large;">How to make a memorydex cards</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There are two ways I like to make the base of my memorydex cards, I either use my cinch or standard hole punch. The size of the paper should have a width of 4" or less. I make my cards in a variety of sizes because it looks more playful and interesting in the tray. I also don't have to worry about if all the cards are exactly the same size, especially if I swap cards with someone. :) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
First I'm going to cover how to use a standard hole punch because it is the most handy. I use the template shown above and place it on top of the piece of paper that I want to turn into a memorydex card. It is<strong> <span style="color: orange;">IMPORTANT</span></strong> that the smaller side (.25") is on the bottom, somewhat centered, and both pieces of paper have their bottom edges lined up. After you punch the holes cut a little rectangle under the punched circle. Now your card is ready to snap into your tray. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-large;">Memorydex cards with a Cinch</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My other favorite tool to punch holes is my cinch. The ruler on the cinch is justified all the way to the right, pegs 3 and 5 are used. I like to use a piece of paper that measures 4" across as a guide, especially for smaller cards (pocket letter size). I try and center my memorydex card on the guide paper; of course you don't have to have your card centered, just make sure your card doesn't exceed the guide paper because it won't fit your tray. After your happy with your card placement it's time to punch your holes. Then cut a mini rectangle under each punched circle, this allows you to snap your cards into the tray. </div>

1. It looks fancy, but it's super-easy. (Which is my favorite kind of craft project!) The outer box is made from one piece of 12x12 paper, the inner piece is 9x9 and the lid is a 6.25-inch square. But the inside can be decorated with all those little paper scraps and embellishments you have lying around, so it's a good stash-buster. </div>

2. It's got lots of little spaces to decorate. I'm intimidated by flipbooks with huge pages to decorate. I prefer lots of small areas, which is why I love pocket letters. These boxes are the same way: Lots of little flaps to decorate, which also means lots of fun for the recipient!</div>

I used two of Megan's collections for this project -- Winter Wishes and Sweet Life. While both were released as holiday collections, there are so many elements in each that are great for everyday crafting. And Sweet Life especially is perfect for birthdays with its balloons, cupcakes and other sweet treats. I mixed the embellishments from the collections with a paper pad that I already had ("Confetti" by DCWV form Michael's) -- they were a perfect match.</div>

I will be giving this to my little friend in person, but if you're this to a pen pal, it fits perfectly in a 6x6x6 cardboard box. You can often find them in the mailing supplies section at the post office or at a store like Staples or Target. Once I realized how much I love making them, I bought a pack of 12 cardboard boxes on Amazon. I fill the box with crinkle paper and nestle my project inside. Unles you've added a lot of extra goodies it still light enough to be sent by first-class mail. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #3d85c6; font-size: large;">Hello Lovelies! </span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I hope everyone is having an awesome day. This week I worked on my first layout using my cricut. Lol, my first cutting experience wasn't the greatest. Yeah... I'm still not 100% satisfied with my cutting machine, hopefully it will change once I have more experience with it. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I've been wanting to make a layout like this forever. As you may know I'm horrible with an x-acto knife, so I had to wait until I bought a cutting machine. I'm absolutely thrilled how it turned out. Lol, next time I will pick and choose which triangles I want with special pattern paper. For the rest of the layout I will back with ONE piece of pattern paper (8.5"x11). It will be a much faster process and I think it will be just as cute. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYULX5xh8dKBsH_5dIDp71zwKCSSlhEUrtihLzJuVkZJ-ETXYQbNAD9yI07k9Nt0ZxmGmt159pD6YdpQfSskGm0glMxdU5TA8EJgMUFZHvGvvUfow7ZuLs-3oIcrR2L90GSQNw-orye6c/s1600/LoveCutFile-03.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYULX5xh8dKBsH_5dIDp71zwKCSSlhEUrtihLzJuVkZJ-ETXYQbNAD9yI07k9Nt0ZxmGmt159pD6YdpQfSskGm0glMxdU5TA8EJgMUFZHvGvvUfow7ZuLs-3oIcrR2L90GSQNw-orye6c/s640/LoveCutFile-03.png" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
I used white butterflies in various sizes starting from the bottom left to the upper right. This helps give the layout motion. Your eyes start on the bold picture and works its way down the butterfly path to the journaling portion of the layout. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2ZS8htJouaoF3PVyZEOm-Jd69kshRcZwpOCKNAJhDBxHMq59VPb1ssVyy-EdohPMu4Su8mGEcEI8_wiTrhra0gr3mZ9hKVwhQJnnOZfJCxUlGuRdzuCTo2cnrCplSNvFxFK3hzea-Yfs/s1600/Butterflypunch.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2ZS8htJouaoF3PVyZEOm-Jd69kshRcZwpOCKNAJhDBxHMq59VPb1ssVyy-EdohPMu4Su8mGEcEI8_wiTrhra0gr3mZ9hKVwhQJnnOZfJCxUlGuRdzuCTo2cnrCplSNvFxFK3hzea-Yfs/s400/Butterflypunch.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I LOVE using my vintage typewriter for my journaling, especially on a layout with a busy background. It helps it stand out and it keeps a cohesive look in my scrapbook. Sometimes I add additional journaling on the back of my layouts in my own handwriting. If I'm really in the mood to write, I might add a little tidbit about the day I created the layout. </div>

<br />
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
Pocket letters don't have to be fancy to be amazing? But if you have a few tricks up your sleeve, you can do a lot of fun stuff in nine little pockets. </h3>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXTDoVxBuNhskta5dbAWaW_k_aA57WP1vs5nhtxgw59xGqxl_r4yj9JNLg5KVfMV3Y_WehFbffsrJ9qhlOIx_OIC23Lk-u60BArHS_Vxz3zXtgwRVfaqNXsfIVwcEe3aiS1kO5Tu7dcCc/s1600/10PLtipsPinterest1-03.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXTDoVxBuNhskta5dbAWaW_k_aA57WP1vs5nhtxgw59xGqxl_r4yj9JNLg5KVfMV3Y_WehFbffsrJ9qhlOIx_OIC23Lk-u60BArHS_Vxz3zXtgwRVfaqNXsfIVwcEe3aiS1kO5Tu7dcCc/s640/10PLtipsPinterest1-03.png" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #0b5394;">Here are a few tips:</span></h3>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<span style="color: #0b5394;">1.</span> Use a binder ring to add a few extra elements or goodies to the edge of your letter. A tassel made from ribbon or yarn looks extra festive and your pal can use it later to decorate her planner, if she uses one. Wrap a sample of twine or washi tape on a plastic bobbin (find them in the embroidery section of the craft or fabric store". I also made a little charm from a doughnut eraser -- I screwed a tiny eye hook in the top. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMw0mlgyf9xHKD9N7YYMlVLRThM4ZqNhyphenhyphenoRw2vNF2Y3yx8VTFN8dinkfqzIeu-pwCVS2EYACcF1wjJ9o0NSElCi0Aaq7WUXh_7WkujKlRoph69KYIozfXTJKdnaZ8sqhdVun_0JYNk5yw/s1600/FullSizeRender2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMw0mlgyf9xHKD9N7YYMlVLRThM4ZqNhyphenhyphenoRw2vNF2Y3yx8VTFN8dinkfqzIeu-pwCVS2EYACcF1wjJ9o0NSElCi0Aaq7WUXh_7WkujKlRoph69KYIozfXTJKdnaZ8sqhdVun_0JYNk5yw/s640/FullSizeRender2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="color: #0b5394;">2.</span> An assortment of fun paper clips makes a cute gift to your pen pal. I always send some of my favorite gold paper clips? I stashed them in a tiny plastic bag and then hid them with some cute embellishments.<br />
<br />
<span style="color: #0b5394;">3.</span> Everyone loves to receive flair buttons in happy mail. If you don't have a button maker, you can use epoxy stickers to make flair, or buy sets from sellers on Etsy. Keep an eye out when you're shopping -- flair is everywhere right now, even at the dollar store. Sometimes the backing paper wants to pop out because the buttons are chubby, so I added a paper clip at the top to keep it in place. I just glued an inexpensive craft store pom pom to a gold paper clip.<br />
<br />
<span style="color: #0b5394;">4. </span>I love to include tags in my pocket letters. I use removable glue dots to attach them to the backing paper, so they don't wiggle around, but my pal can still use the tag if she wants. If you want, you include "mail tag" questions on the back of the tag for your en pal to answer. Or she can use it next time she gives a gift. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZv03oP9HXCbNd6za1IUyJfQpe9J9aJFCtrYFPgkxWsxf7PxN9XOF9phYZLoG-n258uDFFa6WoEQpkUdsn4DE62vH2A2GMs2ehTwIHIMiK72ZH4ZsZlVqPkTl8tBsOusYOuXtqMWSMSvM/s1600/FullSizeRender4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZv03oP9HXCbNd6za1IUyJfQpe9J9aJFCtrYFPgkxWsxf7PxN9XOF9phYZLoG-n258uDFFa6WoEQpkUdsn4DE62vH2A2GMs2ehTwIHIMiK72ZH4ZsZlVqPkTl8tBsOusYOuXtqMWSMSvM/s400/FullSizeRender4.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="color: #0b5394;">5.</span> WASHI! Save pieces of clear plastic from the packaging of your craft supplies (stickers often come on clear plastic backing). I've used the plastic "window" from the front of a box of pasta! Cut the plastic to size, and wrap with some samples of fun washi. I stapled one of the tabs from the <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/LittleHotTamale" target="_blank">"Sweet Life" collection</a> to the top of my plastic piece for some extra pizzazz. <br />
<br />
<span style="color: #0b5394;">6. </span>Don't be afraid to use embellishments on the OUTSIDE of your pockets. I use strong double-sided tape or foam dots to attach elements. And remember, it's OK to cross over pockets in the same row (don't cross vertically if you're going to fold your letter for mailing). <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIfI1RA1U_xH9mJKyZGUQL3zTsfCWogtqydMpki0dvFvl6jgTyQFqo-SHQ7GmvDTJYMtyo9K-qdmlapa23Rjn4MuTdUXxo65C8CC8RkMez1smLNIW3sSmoJDZg4JX6BJ-46WIRLJu_xXA/s1600/FullSizeRender.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIfI1RA1U_xH9mJKyZGUQL3zTsfCWogtqydMpki0dvFvl6jgTyQFqo-SHQ7GmvDTJYMtyo9K-qdmlapa23Rjn4MuTdUXxo65C8CC8RkMez1smLNIW3sSmoJDZg4JX6BJ-46WIRLJu_xXA/s640/FullSizeRender.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="color: #0b5394;">7. </span>Create a little pocket to stash more goodies for your pen pal. I made a little goodie pack with stickers and more ephemera from the <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/LittleHotTamale" target="_blank">"Sweet Life" collection</a>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqUgZkirk3tE8spPg9-GaOnjmqyjh0iwVbDsBhOCDC6Aypsl3bcY2cx0uNcUmKRR7Rjjh1NgC9D-xmpemh46Np3Fjp7r5HKoVoQqEayBjQCZSNB6bPN5Sjja93m9GK_ADmEt5mIg4rtLI/s1600/FullSizeRender3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqUgZkirk3tE8spPg9-GaOnjmqyjh0iwVbDsBhOCDC6Aypsl3bcY2cx0uNcUmKRR7Rjjh1NgC9D-xmpemh46Np3Fjp7r5HKoVoQqEayBjQCZSNB6bPN5Sjja93m9GK_ADmEt5mIg4rtLI/s400/FullSizeRender3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #0b5394;">8.</span> Shaker pockets make everything better! You can use a Fuse tool to seal your pockets, but if you don't have one, narrow double-sided tape works just as well. You can even seal with washi tape, so your pal can re-use the sequins and confetti.</div>
<br />
<span style="color: #0b5394;">9.</span> It's OK to cover up part of your shaker pocket -- it adds a little extra interest. I absolutely love this cassette tape, so I had to use it here with the words "You rock!"<br />
<br />
<span style="color: #0b5394;">10.</span> The last thing I do is cover the edge of my letter with washi tape. This just keeps it from looking quite so much like an office supply. I like to use little bits of different tapes, but you could use one long piece, of course. <br />
<br />

Hello Lovelies!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Today I wanted to share how I setup my Personal Large Mint Kikki K Planner. This is my first time ever owning such an expensive planner. Before I thought about investing in a binder clip planner, I dedicatedly used my 2015 Target planner for an entire year to make sure I would use it. For Christmas Alfredo was so nice and got me the mint Kikki K planner, or as my boyfriend calls it, "kit kit kitty planner," lol. Thank you again Chinchilla, you are such a sweetheart. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My planner is dedicated to my hobbies and date night because for the most part my day is quite routine except for my free time. I stayed away from the typical weekly spread and focused on projects I want to work on, possible date ideas, incoming/outgoing mail, and roughly when I want to complete said things. :) Then I have the freedom to quickly pick and choose what I want depending on my mood. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is a glimpse of my newly setup hobby planner before I filled it with all my messy handwriting. </div>

The one thing I love about binder clip planners is their versatility and their ability to evolve with you. I also enjoy the fact that I don*t have to repurchase a new planner next year, yay!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
With that being said, my friend Aideen is giving away a beautiful Color Crush planner this month on her crafty YouTube Channel: <a href="https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCexomU_zWaCmQDMv5rQG2kA" target="_blank">"Aideen Fallon." </a> It is easy to enter. You need to be subscribed to her YouTube channel and comment on the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxivfQjgy7M" target="_blank">giveaway video</a>. :) </div>

Hello Lovelies!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It*s time to share some wintertime love. Go grab your favorite stamps, paper, and punches because we are going to create some snazzy handmade embellishments for all your crafty projects. Don*t forget to make extra to share with friends. :)<br />
<br />
For my embellishments I wanted a vintage vibe so I chose the paper pad "Snow Day" by The Paper Studio. I absolutely adore this paper pad, especially the fun prints that coordinate perfectly together. The majority of my stamps for this project are wood mounted stamps that came in a bundle of 6 for $6.99 in the holiday crafting section of Hobby Lobby. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUXNTozDs2hgKHpV43NvPSOnBPY_ZSBKZ8KWIoRZRH4gBmg4LRA9LMA8uqyndhWJ3QY6oXAZ94XNp0P6eKY4kce_IoGg4J-uSVg6jqakgqBEoNN9cqlbRiZ26V_co6LZZAoFvovb-zwJY/s1600/Blogembellishment.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUXNTozDs2hgKHpV43NvPSOnBPY_ZSBKZ8KWIoRZRH4gBmg4LRA9LMA8uqyndhWJ3QY6oXAZ94XNp0P6eKY4kce_IoGg4J-uSVg6jqakgqBEoNN9cqlbRiZ26V_co6LZZAoFvovb-zwJY/s640/Blogembellishment.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<span style="color: #cc0000; font-size: large;"><strong> NOTE</strong></span><br />
Just a reminder, you don*t have to use the same products as me. Use what you have. If you don*t have stamps, print images from the internet. Punches? Try making your own template and trace it on your desired paper and fussy cut it out. This is a great way to try new styles without investing in a paper punch you may not like. <br />
<br />
Below I shared my full video tutorial for my handmade embellishments. I hope you enjoy it. :) If you like crafty videos, check out my <a href="https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCM8WcxUEHBz3tRKP16ah9qw" target="_blank"><span style="color: #cc0000;">YouTube channel: Little Hot Tamale</span></a><span style="color: #cc0000;">.</span> I have all kinds of creative tutorials such as scrapbooking, happy mail, and jewelry. <br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
Hello Lovelies!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Today*s layout is of my talented boyfriend practicing his mad soccer skills. I wanted to be able to display several fun action shots with a 4x6 focal photo. To achieve this I divided my layout in half by staggering smaller photos in a line on top and my dominant photo on the bottom. This allows your eye to move easily around the layout. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
After positioning my photos I choose a color scheme from my photos. Because the photos are vibrant I decided to keep the main background white. I could of easily chosen green or blue, but I decided to go with pink for the accent color. Yes, pink for a guy layout. I probably wouldn*t have picked that particular color, but luckily he was sporting it that day. Yay! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For the background I just had a ton of fun. :) I wanted to have an edgy street style vibe...well that*s what I think it is, lol. So I grabbed my modeling paste, Tim Holtz burlap stencil, apple barrel paint (pink & black), Heidi Swapp Color Shine (black velvet), a drinking straw, and a pencil. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I started off by mixing pink paint and a small amount of modeling paste together. Then I used an old gift card to scrape the paste across my stencil in random places on my paper. But I did note where some of my photos were going to be placed so I could have some color peeking from behind. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEht0NeAazQ34_sfDiZnAjTLQ9U4v-7oQFIGfcWtTKkwIJK_cyWw5qwdpQvS0b2Eit6ASGsMjiJCKw0yxHLUVrnsK8U7qj27rznKbkznTbxefPpaw5wLlKmLJhYhKAFeOmW9DtzrL7LFkRs/s1600/blogpassion6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="425" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEht0NeAazQ34_sfDiZnAjTLQ9U4v-7oQFIGfcWtTKkwIJK_cyWw5qwdpQvS0b2Eit6ASGsMjiJCKw0yxHLUVrnsK8U7qj27rznKbkznTbxefPpaw5wLlKmLJhYhKAFeOmW9DtzrL7LFkRs/s640/blogpassion6.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<strong><span style="color: #6aa84f; font-size: large;">FUN TIP!</span></strong></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #274e13;">Don*t waste leftover modeling paste. Use it on another piece of paper for a future layout as a background base or tags. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then I dipped my straw in black acrylic paint and stamped it in clusters for an abstract look. I also used the same method with a pencil point. Afterwards I splattered Heidi Swapp Color Shine on my layout by removing the sprayer and shaking it above the layout. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My photos looked a little bare to me, so I added a black and white mat border to my smaller photos. For the dominant photo I layered my mat and added a zig zag stitch with my sewing machine for more texture. I also added a little bit of bling with black and clear gems from Paper Studio.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #6aa84f; font-size: large;"><strong>DIY EMBELLISHMENTS</strong></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #274e13;">I overlapped two heart die cuts, stapled them in the middle, and fanned them apart to create a 3D embellishment. SO EASY <3</span> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkDiTqMryK0oglvuMohyqqWxaza5Y5cIJc7du_zuSyCD2BoZ7vSQP9uveZkmjLGWFUG6CaN-JPH2rnDcfsmw0oVIjDWTISHLFZ7nQQCQYK3jhyphenhyphenFxYHFKah0smFRHqe2YN19HQF2Q144RI/s1600/blogpassion3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="425" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkDiTqMryK0oglvuMohyqqWxaza5Y5cIJc7du_zuSyCD2BoZ7vSQP9uveZkmjLGWFUG6CaN-JPH2rnDcfsmw0oVIjDWTISHLFZ7nQQCQYK3jhyphenhyphenFxYHFKah0smFRHqe2YN19HQF2Q144RI/s640/blogpassion3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I LOVE how my layout turned out, especially how the photos pop on the page. Before I forget, I wanted to point out I added my journaling to the backside. If you are stuck on journaling I highly recommend answering the questions: who, what, when, where. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For example on this photo I*d write: Alfredo and I had such a fun time hanging out at the park. While we were there Alfredo showed off his mad soccer skills. -Meg Spring 2015 </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I usually write more, but that is a great starting point. From that I could write what my favorite trick was, ask Alfredo how long he has been playing, how did he get into the sport, etc. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

Hello Lovelies!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
How is everyone this morning? It is a little gloomy here, hopefully the sunshine will pop out later. :) Today I wanted to share my layout for <a href="http://letsgetsketchy.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Let's Get Sketchy</a>. The sketch this week by Laetitia was such a fun one to work with. This week I stayed clear from color shine and tried white acrylic paint splatters. It turned out great, but I never imagined how messy tapping a paint brush could be. Once I realized little splatters were going everywhere my mind went into panic mode, need to check my filming camera. Everything a ok. :) lol
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The paper line I used was Good Day Sunshine by Simple Stories, one of my favorite summer lines. I also thought the paper worked perfect for my colorful party photo. After viewing Laetitia sketch I knew I wanted to add a page full of doodles that represented the day. :) If you haven*t tried this on a layout you definitely should, very therapeutic.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Overall I really enjoyed working on this layout, especially since it got me out of my cycle of using white cardstock as my background, lol. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Hope everyone has a wonderful day! Thank you <a href="http://letsgetsketchy.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Let*s Get Sketchy</a> for posting weekly challenges and leaving wonderful comments. <div style="text-align: center;">
Hello Lovelies!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Oh my goodness, I*m so excited to share my autumn scrapbook layout for the <span id="goog_80973444"></span><a href="http://letsgetsketchy.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Let*s Get Sketchy</a> <span id="goog_80973445"></span>challenge. :) I had a ton of fun trying new techniques and working from the wonderful sketch by Bev Code. It took me about 2 hours over a few days to complete it, but it was so worth it because it is one of my favorites. There is a lot going on- gold circle stitching, water color, modeling paste, fussy cutting ghosts and pumpkins, color shine splatters, stamping and paper layering. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<h4 class="separator" style="text-align: center;">
Thought Behind the Layout</h4>
<div class="separator" style="text-align: center;">
I wanted to document this cute photo of my boyfriend and I on the downtown square all decked out for the trick or treaters. From the photo I pulled my color scheme I want to work with: orange and yellow in the trees and the rich maroon color in our outfits. I also pulled inspiration from the ghosts and the banner on the banister. </div>
<div class="separator" style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="text-align: center;">
After rummaging through my stash of Halloween/fall I realized I had practically nothing for the season except for a small Halloween Martha Stewart paper pad, candy corn stickers, a leaf paper punch, and a few stamps. For my base I used white cardstock to allow me to add color more easily and have my dark photo pop off the page. </div>
<div class="separator" style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="text-align: center;">
I tried to make a fun and whimsical layout by working in layers.</div>
<div class="separator" style="text-align: center;">
--gold thread circles sewn with a sewing machine--</div>
<div class="separator" style="text-align: center;">
--maroon water color dabbed on with plastic--</div>
<div class="separator" style="text-align: center;">
--stamping with hearts, spiders, and web--</div>
<div class="separator" style="text-align: center;">
--gold splatters with Heidi Swapp Color Shine--</div>
<div class="separator" style="text-align: center;">
--embellishments: images from the paper pad, candy corn stickers, and gems--</div>

Hello Lovelies!</div>
Eek... I*m so excited to share this layout that I created for <a href="http://thepapergirlschallenge.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">The Paper Girls Challenge</a>. The only requirement was to use "large letters." Of course I didn*t have any in my stash, so I had to get creative. I wanted to achieve letters that resembled piped icing for my cake layout. The only two options I could think of were modeling paste and hot glue. The latter option was the one I choose because lets get real, modeling paste is expensive and I didn*t want to waste a drop of it. lol Overall the hot glue worked great. All I did was free hand some letters on scrap paper, placed it under wax paper, and traced the lines with my glue gun. EASY PEASY! The only draw backs are that the wax paper kind of sticks to the letters underneath and the letters take a few coats of paint. If I used gesso as a primer it would of eliminated some of the coats. <br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
So yeah... I*m super pleased with the end result. I will definitely use this technique again. :)<br />
